At BoardVentures, our goal is simple: to help people have fun—together. We create games that cross generations, cultures, and backgrounds, offering a joyful space where everyone feels welcome. 

Our Vision

SLICE™ is just the beginning of a series of family-friendly games designed to unite people through laughter and play, no matter their age or experience. Our dream is to share these games worldwide and eventually offer versions—like Braille editions—that ensure everyone can be part of the fun.

Growing up as the youngest of eight children in Colorado and Kentucky, I was raised in a home where connection often happened around a table. Card games weren’t just entertainment—they were how we bonded, laughed, and competed.

By the time I was six, I had already learned several card games and was regularly invited to play with my older siblings and even the adults. Being included made me feel like an equal, a real competitor—and sometimes, even the winner.

I watched five of my brothers leave home to serve in the U.S. military, and my sister left to start a family of her own. As they moved on, our game nights became less frequent, and I missed that sense of togetherness more than anything.

Eventually, many of my older siblings had children of their own, and on the rare occasions when they visited, their kids joined in the tradition. Though those visits were infrequent, they were unforgettable—game nights that spanned generations, filled with laughter, teasing, and late-night snacks.

Later, as a parent, I found myself recreating those same moments with my own children. One of those children—my son—is now my partner in this venture. He’s always been fascinated by how things work, from the mechanics of machines to the systems behind games and computers.

When we began talking about making our own game, he lit up with excitement. This project brought together both of our strengths—my love for bringing people together and his passion for design and structure.

That’s when we created SLICE™. We wanted to offer that same joy to other families—the laughter, the friendly competition, and the kind of connection that lingers long after the game ends. It’s not just about cards or winning. It’s about bringing people back to the table.

I’ve always been drawn to how things work. As a kid, I was the one taking apart vacuums just to understand the wiring inside—and then figuring out how to put them back together.

That same curiosity followed me into every corner of my life: machines, design, systems. But the first place I really saw that curiosity come alive was at the game table.

Games were one of the few places where structure and creativity had to coexist. You couldn’t just have an idea—it had to work. It had to feel good in someone’s hands, move fast, make sense, and most of all, make people want to play again. That challenge stuck with me.

My job as Lead Game Designer and Fabricator is to make sure every part of the game serves a purpose. The rules, the flow, the materials, the packaging—it all matters.

When Scout and I first started talking about making our own game, it didn’t come from a business plan or a market trend. It came from a shared feeling—that rush you get when a game grabs you right away.

I approach each detail like a small machine: it should be beautiful, intuitive, and built to last. I want people to pick up SLICE™ and feel like they’re holding something different—something they get the moment it hits the table, but still want to master after dozens of plays.

SLICE™ is our first title, but it’s the foundation for what we’re building at BoardVentures. We’re not chasing complexity for its own sake. We’re focused on creating bold, tactile, replayable games that feel fresh every time you play. Games that don’t just sit on a shelf—they stand out on one.

For me, this isn’t just about game design. It’s about making something real with people I care about, and watching it bring others together, one ridiculous, chaotic, joy-filled round at a time.

SLICE™ was designed with all types of players in mind—from the ultra-focused to the easygoing chatterboxes. Some love the strategy of collecting four cards, while others just enjoy the thrill of the moment. Either way, the game builds suspense until someone suddenly gets four of a kind—then chaos erupts as everyone races to grab a slice of pizza. It’s fast, flexible, and fun for ages 4 and up.
